Elements of a Pre-Purchase Survey by Zero Float
Types of Surveys:
Pre-Purchase Survey
Wide-ranging type of inspection that examines condition and value of a boat prior to purchase. Scope of the survey includes structural integrity, electrical systems, engines, fuel system, other machinery, electronics equipment, and overall state of the vessel.
Insurance Survey
Performed at the request of an insurance company to determine whether the boat
in question is an acceptable risk. This type of survey also involves
replacement and fair market value assessment.
Damage Inspection
Retained by an owner or an insurance company to determine degree and basis of
damage including yard repair costs evaluation and recommendations.
Appraisal Inspection
As may result from a requirement
for bank financing, vessel donation or for legal purposes, this inspection is tailored to
determination of market value of the boat.
